Bathrooms have changed dramatically. No longer is the typical British bathroom a chilly space that houses a basin, bath with shower and a WC. The range of products now available from good bathroom retailers means that bleak, neglected space can be a haven of style and comfort.

Wall hung fittings have long been a favourite in Europe. The WC and bidet are suspended from the wall supported by a concealed frame. All that is visible is the fitting itself and a flush plate. Ugly pipework is hidden away and cleaning is easy because the fittings are clear of the floor. Wall hung also makes a small bathroom appear larger – and is flexible – if there’s a window in the way, the pan can be set at a lower height.
