In the latest Suffolk Magazine Daniel Barr for Anglia Factors comments on a recent renovation: “Mr & Mrs Brooke had moved to the barn to retire and wanted to ‘do the kitchen properly’. The brief was to design a traditional kitchen to suit the traditional barn conversion – but with all the cooking and storage comforts of a modern kitchen.
“The barn was once part of the farm and sits in a beautiful rural setting. We knew we had to design something respectful to the history of the building whilst being in tune with Mr & Mrs Brooke’s style.
“Mr Brooke loves to cook, so we needed to make sure the kitchen was designed to be practical and user-friendly. It sounds obvious but often aesthetics are the primary motivation for our clients.
“Having seen a custom made pantry in our showroom, Mr & Mrs Brooke wanted a very similar style pantry to be at the heart of their kitchen. The spacious pantry is designed to organise and gives the cook a clear view of what ingredients they have to hand.
“The long drawers in the curved island, provide versatile, spacious and flexible storage for all sorts including pots and pans, crockery, utensils and tupperware. The drawers and fittings are extremely strong taking up to 35kg – so can be used for any kitchen equipment, even cast iron pans. Customers tend to like the added visibility that comes with drawers over
cupboards.
“The Franke Swiss Pro tap, over the capacious double butler sink, takes its design from commercial kitchen taps, making it the perfect tool for quickly cleaning dishes, cutlery and large pots and pans! “The Neff extractor is very effective and built in to the ceiling for an unobtrusive look. It can be controlled by a remote or set to switch on automatically via an ultrasound sensor.“The grey quartz worktops are both
stylish and durable and compliment the painted wooden cabinetry. The porcelain tile floor is crisp, clean and easy to maintain.”
Mr John Brooke added: “I’m a very keen cook so the practicality of the kitchen is very important to me. We discussed our needs with Dan at Anglia Factors and he showed us that an induction hob would best suit our needs. We’re very happy with it as well as with the extractor. It’s so hard to find an effective extractor that is not too intrusive. I’ve always wanted one of these big industrial-style taps. They are so practical. We weighed up various options with Dan
and he helped us to identify this one as the one for us. I love it!”
