The Alderton Swan public house & restaurant

Alderton Swan

The Alderton Swan

In December 2015, the Alderton Swan was acquired by a closely-knit team of local investors comprising David & Amanda Fisher, Gary & Leila Miller and Neale Proctor. Together, they brought a keen interest, passion and their unique management style to the business and decided to redevelop this public house and restaurant into a leading food & beverage destination in the Deben peninsular.

A fresh, modern look

Refurbishment work began in mid-January 2016, using a highly experienced and skilled team of local contractors. David & Amanda remained present on site throughout the refurbishment project to ensure the final outcome met the high standards set by the owners. To say that this was very hard work, and not without its problems, would be a massive understatement!

The Kitchen Team

By the end of August however, refurbishment work was complete and preparations made for the official launch of the “new” Alderton Swan, when the doors were opened to customers once again on 1st September 2016. A full-house enjoyed a superb opening evening of fine food and wine, accompanied by guest speakers from Ipswich Town football club, led by Academy Director Simon Milton and fellow legends Terry Butcher and Bryan Hamilton.
The Alderton Swan now has a fresh, modern look, but there is also a nod to the past through the paintwork on the exterior and other subtle touches around the building. A brand new state of the art kitchen has been fitted, as has a new bar. New flooring has been laid throughout the premises, and the washrooms have been upgraded and refreshed. New furniture throughout is complimented by French windows leading from the fine-dining room to the newly landscaped garden. The building has been completely decorated throughout and the basement cellar upgraded.

The Swan's Dining Room

The Swan’s Dining Room

Day to day management rests with David and Amanda. This dedicated husband & wife team are familiar faces in the local area, having lived in Alderton since 2002 and as such, they fully understand the importance of having a public house & restaurant in this quintessentially English village.
All customers are greeted with a warm welcome and friendly smile and invited to take a seat and relax. The Alderton Swan has been designed with the broadest possible appeal to customers in mind, whether it be for those simply stopping off for a cool drink on a hot day, or for those wanting a first class dining experience in warm, cosy surroundings with family and friends.

Local fare with a Mediterranean twist

Alderton Swan

A delicious menu

The food menu has been designed to combine finest local fare with the delights of Mediterranean Europe, particularly Spain. Heading up the dining experience is Kitchen Manager, Nick Gray, who has been a chef for over 30 years and has tremendous local experience. As Nick says…
“Our aim is to create a different fine dining experience, utilising only the best locally sourced seasonal ingredients to achieve a menu fusing together English, Mediterranean and North Africa cooking, which caters for people who are carnivores, vegetarian or vegan or those with special dietary needs.
We feel it is important that people of all food persuasions can feel comfortable having this fine dining experience at the same table”.
Joining Nick in the kitchen is Justo San Nicoloas. Justo has been a chef in Spain for 16 years and he adds the Mediterranean flavour to the menu and he ensures there is something a little more unusual and exotic to tempt discerning customers.
Responsibility for the front of house service rests with Liam Henry, the Restaurant Manager. Liam takes pride in making sure customers receive a warm and personal experience.
