3D printed metal taps

American Standard, a U.S. tap manufacturer, has made the impossible possible thanks to 3D-printer technologies. Their latest collection of bathroom taps defies all rules, looking more like works of art as opposed to a standard appliance.
Using traditional tap-making methods it is pretty much impossible to create many shapes out of metal. Selective laser sintering is reshaping old boundaries by using the power of lasers and heat to fuse metal powder and produce unique parts and shapes.
While this technology has actually been around since the 1980s no one has used it to design a tap prototype before. American Standard claims it is the first to offer ready-for-market taps made by printing with metal.
These taps are expected to be available to the American public within the next 12 months The estimated retail price will be somewhere between $12,000 – $20,000.
